Lihir Gold Limited (LGL) is a major global gold producer with operations in Papua New Guinea (PNG), West Africa and Australia.

The company operates one of the world’s largest gold mines and processing facilities on the island of Lihir, 900 kilometres north-east of Port Moresby in New Ireland province of Papua New Guinea.
In June 2008, LGL finalised a merger with Perth-based gold producer Equigold NL. Through the merger, LGL now has operations at Mount Rawdon in Queensland and in Côte d’Ivoire in West Africa. The company is also actively exploring in Côte d’Ivoire, where it has over 20,000 square kilometres of exploration licences either granted or under application in the highly prospective Birimian greenstone belts.

Combined from its three operations, LGL has more than 30 million ounces in reserves. In 2009 LGL produced 1.12 million ounces of gold, with production in 2010 forecast to be between 1 and 1.1 million ounces.
